Microsoft’s TikTok acquisition is back on track after weekend Trump talks TikTok

In the lead up to Chinese-owned TikTok’s imminent ban in the US, Microsoft is pushing ahead with plans to purchase the popular social media platform’s operations in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, as reported by Bloomberg.

The Redmond company had reportedly been in talks with TikTok’s China-based developer ByteDance for a number of weeks, but the deal is now being forced to speed up following US president Donald Trump’s move to ban the service.
