The Snapdragon 870 SoC is an iterative update over last year’s Snapdragon 865 Plus, which again was a slightly tweaked version of the original Snapdragon 865 chipset that powered most flagship smartphones last year. So, while it does offer slightly improved performance over the original Snapdragon 865 chipset, it will allow brands to launch mid-range or affordable flagship phones with a “new” processor this year.

We already have Motorola announcing the launch date of Moto Edge S rocking a Snapdragon 870 and now it’s being reported that even Xiaomi is looking to come up with a Redmi K40 variant powered by this newly announced SoC.
